It was a cold start for the Uganda Cranes campaign in the Africa Nations Championship as they suffered a humiliating loss to the Desert Foxes 3-0 in their opening Group C match.
The cranes failed to match the desert foxes organization and sharpness from the on start of the game and failed to recover form a first half goal by Ayoub.
Goals from Ayoub Ghezala in the 35th minute, Meziane Abderrahmane in the 76th minute and Soufine Beyazid winner in the 79th minute sealed the cranes fate before a fully packed crowd.
The loss comes hours after President Yoweri Museveni pledged UGX 1.2 Billion on each match they win during the tournament.
The announcement was made by FUFA President Hon. Magogo Moses Hassim while addressing the cranes team just a few hours before Uganda kicks off against Algeria.
This could mean the Cranes miss out on what could have been their first UGX1.2BN promised by President Yoweri Museveni.
Uganda return to action on Friday, August 8 as they take on Guinea which won their opening game 1 – 0 against Niger.
