The Entebbe Senior Grade One Magistrate Tibayeita Edgar Tusiime has sentenced a Makerere University finalist and TikToker Elson Tumwine to a two months imprisonment over offensive communication against President Museveni and Speaker of Parliament Anita Among.
Magistrate Tibayeita sentenced Tumwine who had recently gone missing in Hoima during his internship after he pleaded guilty to the charges on Friday last week before the same magistrate.
State Prosecutor Paul Ahebwa Byaruhanga told court that Tumwine posted a video in May on his Tik Tok account where he alleged that President Museveni was apologizing to the Baganda community and sidelining other areas in the country where he alleged the president burned thousands of people in the country’s Teso region and killed and dumped people in a swamp with the aid of Rwandese soldiers.
His worship Tibayeita sentenced Tumwine to a two months imprisonment noting that he had not wasted courts time by pleading guilty to the charges.
Last week, the Buganda Road Chief Magistrate’s Court charged and remanded content creator Benson Muyingo, alias Benson Pro UG, over allegedly spreading malicious information about the Director General of Uganda’s External Security Organisation (ESO) Joseph Ocwet.
Court heard that Muyingo through his Tik Tok channel alleged that Ocwet’s was involved in a land-grabbing incident at Kasenyi -Bendegere, in Katabi Town Council, Wakiso district.
