Drama unfolded during the fourth land dispute reconciliation meeting called by the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Kajjansi Town Council, Mr Patrick Mubiru, when the administrator of late Ezekeri Makabugo Sempagama Bunjo’s, estate Kizito Kizekiya got tongue tied, after the grandchildren rejected a peace offer of five acres of land to settle a long standing family land dispute.
The meeting called Tuesday to resolve the long standing land dispute over the 521 acre land that covers two villages of Ngongolo ‘A’ and Ngongolo ‘B’ in Wakiso District.
Trouble started for Kizito Kizekiya, when he was given an opportunity to address the meeting involving the children and grandchildren of the late, whom he revealed to that they were to receive 5 acres of land, in Kyali Mpigi district from the late grandfather’s vast estate.
“The family held a meeting on Saturday and from the discussions, as we had spoken the previous time, Kyali had a contractor but he has never produced the results, but we are confident that there is still land available,……. we can get them five acres despite the confusion surrounding it” he said.

He further asked the grandchildren to trace their last living aunt a one Nakibuuka, who can help them settle the dispute amicably.
Mr Kisasa another uncle to the grandchildren urged them to visit the administrator general’s office to get a view of the deceased’s will in order to find out, how the land was shared amongst the children.
“When you go to the administrator general’s office, one book can occupy this table, he will provide you with a person to assist you, there is no secret as long as you ask for his permission and he accepts” he said.
However the grandchildren led by Joseph kavule, who were visibly dismayed at the offer, disagreed with the provision of only five acres of land from the Mpigi estate, deeming it as unfair.
“If you’re saying you have given us five acres (Kizito), how fair is it when you yourself got 30acres from that land, which belonged to our grandfather. I therefore ask to become a sacrifice to you on behalf of all grandchildren, you take me to Kyali and keep me there, and I become smart” he said.
Mr Kavule further informed the meeting that his two uncles Kizito and Kisasa were behind the sharing and division of the late Makabugo’s estate.
The grandchildren who were visibly annoyed and enraged by their uncles comments, further urged for the removal of Kizito Kezekia as the estate administrator, since he had failed to even make an inventory of the properties that were left behind by the deceased as instructed during a meeting held in 2015.
“That was very wrong, who in the family did you sit down with to make that decision” the grandchildren shouted in unison.
Dr Mitala Julius, another grandchild in the family revealed that their uncle Kizito Kezekia, takes advantage of sharing the names with their late grandfather to make illegal land deals as the estate administrator.
“Kizito’s powers as administrator ended 15 years ago, but within those years, he was unable to fulfil his responsibilities, he has failed equally share out over 2,000 square miles amongst the beneficiaries but rather owned them as an individual and only gave out land to his own family members, which is unlawful” he said.

During the first meeting held at beginning of last month at the RDC’s office, Mr Vincent Ssebawutu, who was entrusted with caretaking of the estate by the deceased, revealed that during a Makabugo Kayanjulwa land meeting held at kyaali on 25/04/15, Kezekia said he was going to partition and distribute the land out to his siblings amongst the three households, according to their father’s lineage.
“However, he was advised to during the meeting that the land was to be divided amongst four households, since they were four brothers and it stopped the further dealings and divisions on the land” he said.
However, Mr Vincent Ssebawutu revealed that after the meeting, Kezekia fraudulently changed the land title and letters of administration over the land, into his own names without the knowledge of the family members and started selling off the land.
Earlier in the Tuesday meeting RDC Mubiru, had informed the family that he had reached out to the family’s eldest child Mr Nsubuga Mubiru, who informed him that he had called for a family meeting the previous Sunday but the family heads never showed up.
“He also informed me that he has never received any piece of land as alleged by you Kizito in the previous meeting here, the only land he got was from the one that was given to his mother, who gave it to him while she was still alive, but he has never received any piece of land shared among the family members” he said.
RDC Mubiru, noted that Nsubuga also requested for equality when it comes to sharing out the land amongst the family members.
“He also informed me that the late never left a will and also didn’t know how Kizito became the estate administrator, he also urged for fair sharing of the land amongst family members and asked for grandchildren to be considered since they are rightful beneficiaries, that’s why he had called you in the meeting as elders” he said.
However, following back and forth heckling between the two parties, RDC Kirabira revealed that he would call for a special meeting which will include the family heads, grandchildren’s representatives, aunties and lawyers.
“When that family meeting is held, am sure we shall get a resolution and the grandchildren will get justice, because that’s what they are looking for. Mr Kizito and Kisasa, you need to find a way of resolving this matter before it gets out if your hands” he said.
Mr Mubiru further warned against selling any piece of the land on the estate until the matter is resolved.
“To avoid any danger, I ask you grandchildren to keep calm, I assure you by Tuesday next week, I would have provided you with the resolutions of the meeting” he said.
