The Law Development Centre (LDC) Chief Magistrate’s Court has on Tuesday granted bail to three women activists under The Sisterhood Chain following pressure from activists after the trio were brutally assaulted by Uganda prison guards and Police officer at the court on Monday.
The trio Namara Claire, Aloikin Praise Opoloje and Kobusingye Norah were charged with being a common nuisance and nuisance on the road faced brutality after they were remanded on Monday at the hands of the Uganda Prisons officers in Monday who brutally beat them up.
The beat up, recorded on video followed their verbal protestation to being secretly remanded by the same court on Monday without the presence or knowledge of their lawyers when their case came up for hearing at the LDC.


Court heard that on 20th this month along Sir Apollo kagwa road traffic lights in Kampala district, the activists obstructed traffic while spreading placards and the banner on the said road thereby causing inconvenience to the public in exercises if their common rights of usage.
Court further heard that the activists made noise pollution and placed themselves on the road in such a manner to cause inconvenience to traffic.
Police arrested the three activists after they staged a peaceful demonstration against what they described as the governments selective application of the law on social media users and called for Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s arrest.
According to the activists, several Ugandans mainly those belonging to the Opposition, have been arrested for speaking out online, while the First Son and Chief of Defence Forces, Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, continues to make similar statements without facing consequences.
