Former intelligence operative with the Internal Security Organisation (ISO) turned political commentator Charles Rwomushana, has been seized from the Radio Simba Fm Studios in Kampala on Saturday morning.
According to a video circulating online, Rwomushana is seen being forcefully pulled out of the studio by men holding semi-automatic guns and a Pistol, through the reception area and out of the radio.
In a post shared on their X account, the station confirmed that he was appearing on the radio program “Gasimbagane ne Bannamawulire” loosely translated in English to mean “Face off with The Journalists”, before he was picked up by the armed men in civilian clothes.
The National Unity Platform’s (NUP) David Lewis Rubongoya questioned what was happening in the country following his seizure.
“Charles Rwomushana grabbed out of Simba Radio studios by armed men in civilian clothes? Whatever is not happening in Uganda!” he posted.
The Head of Special Interest Groups for the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) Nyanjura Doreen, noted that when lawlessness becomes the norm, everyone on this sinking ship is at risk.
“Charles Rwomushana forcefully taken from the Radio Simba studios by unidentified armed operatives. When lawlessness becomes the norm, everyone on this sinking ship is at risk” she said.
However neither the police nor army had given a reason for his seizure by the heavily armed men by the time of this publication.
