In an effort to ensure safety and security for faithful’s, a combination of Joint security forces from the Police, UPDF, SFC and other sister security agencies has been heavily deployed in and around the Catholic and Anglican shrines in Namugongo as thousands of pilgrims continue to arrive for this year’s Marty’s day celebrations.
On Friday the Uganda Police Director of operations, AIGP Frank Mwesigwa led the joint sister forces in the inspection of the two areas where prayers will be held on Tuesday.

AIGP Mwesigwa who together with the Health Minister Dr Ruth Aceng held an inter-agency meeting to discuss security and health plans commended security officers for their efforts in ensuring pilgrims’ safety.
Mwesigwa noted that over 7,000 overt and covert security operatives have been deployed to secure the event with standby teams, mobile squads, and medical teams equally deployed to provide immediate medical attention as and when the need may arise.

While releasing the traffic advisory for this year’s celebrations, Traffic Police PRO SP Kananura Michael urged all motorists to follow the instructions of traffic officers, exercise maximum discipline and patience on the road.
“Please plan your journeys in advance to avoid unnecessary delays and inconveniences” he said.
