A Fly Dubai flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv – Israel was diverted to Saudi Arabia Wednesday morning after a fight broke out between the pilots inside the cockpit.
Reports indicate that, there was a fight between the pilot and the co-pilot one Russian and another Ukrainian.
During the incident, two emergency transmissions were made from the aicraft, one which was a security emergency aboard the aircraft and then another minutes later describing an unlawful entrance into the cockpit.
Passengers and tracking data also show that there may have been a sudden sharp descent in the flight at some point, with initial reports suggesting that Israel scrambled war planes fearing a hijacking.
However the Israeli spokesman for the Israeli Prime Minister’s office said there was no evidence of a hijacking.
FlyDubai is the lower cost airline of Emirates Airlines, with Dubai becoming a popular destination for Israeli tourists since the two country’s normalized ties in 2020.
The airline has since revealed that everyone on board was safe and that another plane would take them on to Israel.
