The head of the Babiito Royal Clan, Musuuga Charles Kamurasi, has revealed that the Kingdom has set September 29th as the date for coronation of Prince Edward Rukidi Nyabongo I, as the new Omukama (King) of Tooro.
Musuuga made the announcement on Tuesday during a press conference held at Karuzika Palace, after the Tooro Kingdom Supreme Council confirmed Nyabongo I, as the next Omukama.
Kamurasi noted that the coronation will oversee a series of traditional rituals through which Nyabongo I will be formally installed as Omukama.
He further revealed that preparations for the historic ceremony are underway, with the kingdom expected to bring together members of the royal family, Batooro subjects, cultural leaders, government officials and other dignitaries for the coronation.
The late Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, was laid to rest at the royal tombs in Karambi, Fort Portal on September 12th following his death to cancer on August 27, 2026, in the USA.
