Entebbe International Airport has recorded 88,270 arrivals and 81,436 departures in August 2026, bringing the total number of international passengers to 169,706, an average of approximately 5,474 passengers per day.
According to Manager of Public Affairs at the Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) Mr Vianney Luggya, the August figures surpassed the previous record set in July 2026 by 13,364 passengers, when the airport recorded a total of 156,342 international passengers.
He however noted that despite the increase in passenger traffic between July and August 2026, the August 2026 figure was lower than that recorded in August 2025.
“The airport handled 239,329 international passengers in August 2025, representing a decline of 69,623 passengers in August 2026 compared to the same month last year. July – August is usually a peak period, but recent travel restrictions had an impact” he said.
Mr Luggya noted that in terms of cargo, 2,927 metric tonnes of exports and 1,766 metric tonnes of imports were recorded in August 2026, bringing the total cargo handled to 4,693 metric tonnes.
“This compares with 4,799 metric tonnes recorded in July 2026” he said.
