The Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu has dismissed online reports indicating that Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere Irema-Ngoma is critically ill, noting that the King had travelled to Turkey for a routine medical review.
In a statement issued on the Kingdom’s X account on Sunday, Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu said the monarch remains in stable condition.
“We wish to clarify that HM Omusinga Charles Wesley Mumbere Irema-Ngoma is not critically ill, contrary to reports circulating on social media” the Kingdom said.
The Kingdom added, “He travelled to Türkiye for a routine medical review, as advised by his doctors”.
The Kingdom further thanked subjects and well-wishers across the country for their continued prayers, concern and love for the monarch.
“We sincerely appreciate everyone for the love, prayers, concern, & well-wishes extended to His Majesty, the Royal Family & Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu. Thank you for your continued love and support” the Kingdom said.
According to the kingdom’s spokesperson Geoffrey Kanyonyi, Mumbere left Uganda on August 27 and arrived in Türkiye the next morning.
The trip comes barely six months after Mumbere returned to the Rwenzori region following more than five months away for medical care.
Mumbere travelled to Türkiye in October 2025 for specialised medical treatment and returned to Uganda in December.
He remained at his Kampala residence while recuperating before returning to his kingdom in March 2026.
