The Kingdom of Tooro has called on it’s subjects and the general public to remain calm and offer prayers while exercising respect for the Royal Family.
In a message posted on the Kingdom’s official X handle, the Kingdom’s Prime minister confirmed that King Rukirabasaija Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, is currently in critical condition.
“This is to inform you that King Oyo is currently in a critical condition. At this difficult time, we humbly ask the people of Tooro & our friends to keep His Majesty in your prayers” the statement reads.
The statement comes hours after rumours started circulating that the 34-year-old monarch, reportedly passed away on Thursday after being hospitalised with cancer in the United States, according to a source close to the royal family.
King Oyo’s reported death comes weeks after the Kingdom dismissed claims that the King was critically ill and receiving treatment in the United States.
