The Uganda Police Force Spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke, has revealed that all unclaimed bodies, in the fatal Kapchorwa Bus accident that claimed the lives of 24 people including the director of King David Junior School, Ndejje, have been transferred to Mulago hospital for identification.
Kituuma made the revelation during the Monday Police media briefing at Naguru Police headquarters.
“All unclaimed bodies have since been transferred to Mulago National Referral Hospital to facilitate identification and other necessary management processes” he said.
Kituuma noted that investigations into the cause of the crash involved an Isuzu bus transporting pupils and staff of King David Junior School on an educational trip to Sipi Falls are ongoing, and the findings will be communicated to the public once inquiries are concluded.
“Following the tragedy, the Ministry of Education and Sports directed the suspension of all school trips. We urge all school administrators to fully comply with this directive and await further guidance from the Ministry” he said.
Kituuma further clarified that the directive does not affect the operation of public transport buses.
“It applies only to vehicles transporting learners on school trips” he said.
