The former Second Deputy Prime Minister of Uganda and Adjumani West County MP, Gen. (Rtd) Moses Ali, has passed on at Nakasero Hospital where he was rushed to on Friday for urgent medical care.
Gen Moses passing has been announced by businessman and former National Resistance Movement (NRM), vice chairman for eastern Uganda Capt Mike Mukula on his official X handle.
Capt Mukula noted that the 87 year old veteran leader passed on at 4:25pm, on Saturday.
“Innā lillāhi wa innā ilayhi rājiʿūn.“Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we shall return.” (Qur’an 2:156)
It is with profound sorrow and a heavy heart that I have received the sad news of the passing of my dear friend, distinguished patriot, freedom fighter, and statesman, General Moses Ali, who departed this life today at 4:25 p.m. at Nakasero Hospital.
Mukula described General Moses Ali, as a person who devoted his life to the service of Uganda.
“His contribution to the struggle for peace, national unity, stability, and reconstruction will forever remain engraved in the history of our nation. He was a courageous soldier, an astute leader, and an elder statesman whose wisdom, humility, and unwavering commitment to Uganda inspired generations of leaders and citizens alike” he said.
He added, “On behalf of my family and in my own name, I extend my heartfelt condolences to His Excellency President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the Government and people of the Republic of Uganda, the bereaved family of General Moses Ali, the people of Adjumani District, the entire West Nile Sub-region, and all Ugandans who mourn this immense national loss”.
Mukula further noted that his enduring legacy will continue to inspire future generations to serve with integrity, selflessness, and unwavering love for country.
Concern mounted over Gen Moses health on Friday, after reports emerged that he had been receiving treatment at Nakasero, where he was hospitalised earlier in the week.
On Friday morning, members of Ali’s family held a closed-door meeting at the hospital.
Several of his children, including some who travelled from outside Uganda, were seen arriving at the facility throughout the day.
However Gen Moses Ali’s cause of death wasnt yet revealed by the time of this publication.
