Uganda Civil Aviation Authority (UCAA) is demanding over Shs233 billion from the government and Uganda Airlines for services offered at the airport.
The revelation was made by the UCAA Director of Finance, Hassan Musinguzi while appearing before the Parliamentary Committee on Physical Infrastructure chaired by Mbarara City South MP Mwiine Mpaka on Thursday.
Musinguzi noted that of the said of that amount, the central government debt stands at UGX 91.6 billion.
He further revealed that the authority will continue lobbying government, through the Ministry of Works and Transport to have the debt cleared.
“We shall continue lobbying government through the Ministry of Works and Transport to have this debt cleared,” Musinguzi told the committee.
The debt stems from the rental space by taken up by the UN, parking fees for Uganda Airlines and airport passenger service fees, among others.
