The Chief od Defence Forces and founder of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU), Gen Muhoozi kainerugaba has dropped David Kabanda as he makes a major shakeup, in the movements leadership.
On Monday. Gen Muhoozi revealed that he had replaced the Kasambya County MP, with Tingey County MP Fadil Twalla, as part of the movement’s strategic alliance with NRM and ensure that members in the cabinet and parliament follow President Museveni’s instructions to return to the grassroots and effectively monitor government programmes.
“The new General Secretary of PLU is Hon. Fadil Twalla. I will work closely with him to achieve our objectives. I thank Hon. Kabanda for his 3 years of excellent service. He set the standard high for the position” Muhoozi posted on his X account.
He further revealed that outgoing SG, Kabanda will be retained as a member of the Central Committee.
“The National Vice Chairperson of PLU, Mr. Michael Nuwagira, is hereby instructed to organise the handover/takeover ceremony of the position of General Secretary of PLU as soon as possible. From Hon. Kabanda to Hon. Fadil. All PLU Ministers and Members of Parliament must attend” he said.
Muhoozi has also appointed the minister of defence and veteran affairs, Hon Kiryowa Kiwanuka, the Vice Chairman for PLU in Buganda.
Other changes made by the PLU founder include the appointment of Hon. Frank Tumwebaze, Hon. Kiryowa Kiwanuka, Mr. Hussein Kashillingi and Mr. Alan Kasujja to the Central Committee.
Speaker Rt Hon Oboth Oboth and his deputy Rt Hon Thomas Tayebwa are appointed members of the Central Committee, alongside Mr. Kwame Ruyondo as a representative for NRA historicals, while Hon. Balaam Barugahara retains his position as Vice Chairman Western Region.
Hon Sanjay Tanna has also been appointed to the Central Committee as representative of the business community, in the ongoing reshuffle.
