The former Kampala Lord Mayor and president of People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) party, Erias Lukwago has been picked up by security operatives attached to the Special Forces Command (SFC), from his home in Wakaliga, a Kampala suburb.
According to videos circulating on social media, heavily armed operatives in military camouflage are seen taking strategic positions around the home before one of the infamous Toyota Hiace drones, is driven into the gated house.
The vehicle is seen moments later exiting the residence with Erias Lukwago on board to an unknown destination.
However, a number of posts by Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba on his X, alluding to a fresh arrest of an individual who recently summoned him to court, has led to a netizens speculating that Lukwago might be headed for the General’s basement.
“Ngu he summoned me?? How do you DARE to utter those words? Only Mzee can summon me. This fool will learn the lesson he has been begging for” Muhoozi posted.
Muhoozi further mocked the suspect as needing diapers, since he had allegedly already urinated on himself thrice during the arrest.
“I have captured a FOOL and taken him to the basement!…….We are still warming up the fool. Pictures soon. This one will learn Kiswahili” he posted.
Lukwago’s arrest comes as he, Martha Karua and other members of Dr Besigye’s legal team have been attempting to serve Muhoozi with summons to appear before the High Court.
Gen Muhoozi has since warned former Kira Municipality MP Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda, of an arrest in case he or anyone else serve the court documents.
“Please serve the papers and I’ll arrest both you and whoever serves them!”
Last week, Justice Emmanuel Baguma gave Gen Muhoozi seven days to respond to a petition filed by Dr Kizza Besigye and Hajji Obeid Lutale over alleged social media threats.
Lukwago confirmed on Friday that the Attorney General had been served, but that Gen Muhoozi, Col Peter Ahimbisibwe, and Lt Col Ephraim Byaruhanga were yet to be served.
Following his arrest on Monday, the Uganda Police Spokesperson ACP Rusoke Kituuma, informed the weekly police media briefing at Naguru, that he wasn’t aware of the reason for Lukwago’s arrest.
“Am not aware but in the event that I get more information about it, we can always share with you” he said.
