President Yoweri Museveni has appointed veteran communication specialist Dennis Katungi, as the substantive Deputy Executive Director of the Uganda Media Centre, filling a vacancy created by the late Colonel Shaban Bantariza.
Katungi’s appointment ends almost six years in the acting role as the Deputy Executive Director at the government communications agency, following the passing of Bantariza, in October 2020.
The appointment was made through a presidential instrument signed on May 30, 2026, with immediate effect.
President Museveni further directed the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of ICT and National Guidance to ensure implementation of the decision.
Katungi now joins the Executive Director Alan Kasujja, a veteran journalist and broadcaster in the institution’s top leadership team, who recently took over the helm of the Uganda Media Centre following his appointment by President Museveni.
