NTUNGAMO – The Deputy Resident District Commissioner of Ntungamo, Mrs. Rosemary Atuhire, has commended Ntungamo Health Centre IV for improved service delivery and modern infrastructure that is transforming health care in the district.
During a monitoring visit to the facility today, Mrs. Atuhire said she was impressed by the availability of equipment and maternity ward that are already improving the standards of living for residents.
“In my assessment, Ntungamo Health Centre IV now has all the necessary equipment and a modern maternity ward. This will go a long way in improving the wellbeing of our people,” she said.
The deputy RDC explained that government continues to strengthen health centres through recruitment of specialized health workers. She noted that the facility now has staff attending to patients with disabilities, HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, hypertension, ulcers, diabetes, and other conditions.
She also urged residents to take advantage of the services offered at the health centre. “I call upon all people in Ntungamo to come and access these services. Early testing and treatment saves lives,” she added.
Mrs. Atuhire further revealed that government has supplied the facility with modern laboratory equipment. She said expansion works on the laboratory are ongoing, and once complete, the new equipment will be installed to enable testing for a wide range of diseases.
Speaking to journalists, health workers at the facility said the number of patients presenting with lifestyle and infectious diseases has reduced compared to last year. They attributed the decline to increased community sensitization and improved access to treatment.
The medical team also encouraged residents to embrace routine medical check-ups. “People should come and know their health status. Early detection is key to prevention and better health outcomes,” one of the doctors said.
