The Butambala Chief Magistrates’ Court has further remanded former Butambala District MP, and National Unity Platform (NUP) Deputy President for Buganda Hon. Muwanga Kivumbi and his co-accused, in the terrorism case against them.
His worship Deogratias Ssejjemba adjourned the hearing until June 25th, after state attorneys informed court that the prosecution file remained at the International Crimes Division of the High Court in Kololo, Kampala.
The groups appearance in Butambala comes days after the state objected to their bail application at the International Crimes Division in Kololo.
On Monday, the prosecution which was absent at the beginning of the bail application hearing, since state lawyers where attending to veteran opposition politician, Dr. Kizza Besigye’s treason trial, through a sworn affidavit informed court that investigations into the case were still underway.
According to the affidavit prosecution alleged that Kivumbi and he’s co accused will interfere with state witnesses and jeopardise the judicial process if they are released back into the public.
