The Entebbe Police is investigating an aggravated robbery in which armed assailants robbed UGX 24 million from a Sawan Distributors Ltd sales agent at gunpoint on Monday along Kasenyi Road in Buyinja Zone – Nkumba, Katabi Town Council, Wakiso district.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy PRO, Luke Owoyesigyire, three armed assailants riding on a motorcycle attacked a sales team from Sawan Distributors Ltd and robbed them of cash estimated at UGX 24 million, an IFRIS machine, and other personal items.
“During the incident, a female sales agent sustained injuries and was taken to Entebbe Regional Referral Hospital for treatment” he said.
Owoyesigyire said police responded to the scene, recovered two cartridge casings, documented the scene, recorded witness statements, and commenced investigations to identify and arrest the suspects.
According to eye witness account, the vehicle a Toyota Tata truck Registration number UBG 179D, belonging was moving from the Kasenyi landing site direction towards the Kampala- Entebbe Highway when, it made a stopover at a wholesale shop in Buyinja zone, when the robbery occurred.
“They had come to distribute merchandise to Kigongo’s shop after which the woman and driver retreated back to the car. A boda boda from Abaita Ababili came and parked in front of the car, a man pointed a gun at the driver before the passenger jumped off to snatch a bag from the woman”.
However, the woman identified as Prossy Nakimbugwe reportedly held onto the bag prompting the thief to cut her leg, after which she released it and the suspects fled on the boda boda.
