The Kira Division Police is investigating a suspected murder after the discovery of a decomposed body believed to be of Oliver Naziwa, a 52 year old woman who has reportedly been missing since October 2025.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy PRO Luke Owoyesigyire, the discovery of Naziwa’s remains, a resident of Kito ‘A’, Kirinya in Kira Municipality, in Wakiso District came after her relatives filed a missing person’s report on April 28, 2026.
On May 4th, police detectives conducted a search at the suspects residence, including a relative linked to the disappearance, which led to the discovery of a decomposed body in a locked room, together with clothing that relatives later identified as belonging to the deceased.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects were allegedly operating a cult-like group that discouraged members from seeking medical treatment and conducting proper burials” Owoyesigyire said.
Owoyesigyire noted that two suspects have been arrested to assist with investigations and further warned the public against involving themselves with illegal religious sects.
In December last year, Police in Kisoga Town council, Mukono district arrested three family members after a man passed away and his body was later kept in the house for days as they prayed for his resurrection on the orders of a ‘prophet’.
The deceased identified as Ssegawa Asse, was a resident of Butinindi, Terere Parish in Ntenjeru–Kisoga Town Council, who fell ill for more than three weeks at the family’s ancestral home.
However, instead of offering him medical treatment, family members turned to prayer sessions led by a local pastor, Nelima Margret, also known as Nabbi.
It’s reported that Nelima ordered the family members to deny him medication and was subjected to continuous prayers for days by the family and pastor until he died.
