The Makindye Chief Magistrates court has charged Okello Christopher Onyum over the murder of four toddlers at Ggaba Early Childhood Development Centre in Kampala last week.
On Tuesday, Okello was arraigned before the Makindye court and charged with four counts of murder, contrary to section 171 and 172 of the penal code act, cap 128.
Prosecution told court Christopher Okello Onyum on the second day of April this year at Ggaba Early Childhood Development centre, Ggaba trading zone, Ggaba parish, Makindye Division Kampala district, with malice aforethought unlawfully caused death of Gideon Eteku.
On the second murder charge, prosecution alleged that Christopher Okello Onyum on the second day of April this year at Ggaba Early Childhood Development centre, Ggaba trading zone, Ggaba parish, Makindye Division Kampala district, with malice aforethought unlawfully caused death of Keisha Agenrwot.
“On count 3, Count 2 also murder It is alleged that you Christopher Okello Onyum on the second day of April this year at Ggaba Early Childhood Development centre, Ggaba trading zone, Ggaba parish, Makindye Division Kampala district, with malice aforethought unlawfully caused death of Ignatius Sseruyange” the prosecution said.
On count 4, prosecution further alleged that Christopher Okello Onyum on the second day of April this year at Ggaba Early Childhood Development centre, Ggaba trading zone, Ggaba parish, Makindye Division Kampala district, with malice aforethought unlawfully caused death of and Ryan Odeke.
However, Okello was not allowed to take plea before the magistrates court since the crimes are capital in nature and can only be heard before the High Court.
Prosecution informed court that inquiries into the case are ongoing.
Okello was remanded to Luzira Prison until Wednesday when he will appear before the same court for mention of the case.
