The Chief of Defence Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has appointed Col Deo Akiiki, Uganda’s new military attaché and defence advisor in Washington, DC.
Over the past year, Col Akiiki who is set to replace Col Peter Sonko in the United States office, has been serving as a military assistant to Gen Muhoozi.
Prior to that, he was the Deputy Defence Public Information Officer at the Ministry of Defence, a department he served in the forces for 22 years.
Gen Muhoozi made the announcement on Wednesday and a visit to his official X handle, shows he is ready to serve as the Defence Adviser for Uganda in the United States of America – Washington DC.
Col Akiiki’s appointment follows a recent visit of retired US General Michael Flynn’s visit to Kampala where he held meetings with President Yoweri Museveni and Gen Muhoozi, and also addressed senior military officers.
