The Entebbe Police is holding a woman identified as Hellen Aputo, a resident of Kavuma zone -Nkumba in Katabi Town Council over allegedly beating her five year old nephew to death over yet to be known reasons.
According to sources, on Thursday night, Aputo, who dry’s silver fish a Kasenyi lading site, returned home from a drinking spree and started beating up her nephew, Naboth Robert.
It’s believed that the boy succumbed to the severe beatings at night which prompted Aputo to try sneaking his body out of their rented room the following day.
“On Friday at around 11am, the neighbors who heard the beatings at night were curious with the suspicious way she had been acting since morning, they tricked her three year old son with Mandazi and passion fruit juice”
“The boy informed them that Aputo had beaten Naboth at night and when she tried to wake him up in the morning, to go to the nearby Benman Junior School where he was a pupil to study, he didn’t wake up”.
According to a police source who preferred anonymity, this prompted the neighbors to question Aputo about the boy’s whereabouts, “That’s when she told them that the boy didn’t wake up”.
According to residents the deceased’s father Okumu Richard flew to Dubai recently for work, leaving his son in the care of his sister.
The deceased’s body was taken to Mulago city mortuary for a postmortem.
