Tik Toker and shoe hawker Madubarah real names Juma Musuuza, has finally been released from Kigo prison after serving a 12 months’ imprisonment sentence over hate speech and spreading malicious information about the first family and Speaker Anita Among.
Upon his release from prison on Wednesday, Madubarah first visited musician King Saha at his Nakawuka home and thanked him for the support he had extended to him and his family during his time in prison.
“King (Saha) was with me; he supported me the entire time since I was arrested, and we thank Allah for my release. He is the greatest” he said.
In a brief video post on his X account, King Saha welcomed back Madubarah from prison.
“He’s Finally FREE, Well be Back MADUBARA” King saha posted.
Madubarah, a staunch National Unity Platform (NUP) supporter was arrested and remanded in November last year over hate speech and malicious information against President Yoweri Museveni, Speaker Anita Among and First son Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba.
In August 2025, the TikToker was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment by Entebbe Senior Magistrate Grade One, Edgar Tibayeita Tusiime on six counts including three counts of hate speech and three counts of malicious information against the trio.
“Prosecution has not produced any record of him being in any case, so court proceeds to treat him like a first time offender, the convict is accordingly sentenced to serve a time of 12 months imprisonment on each count” his worship Tibayeita said.
His Worship Tibayeita noted that the sentences would run from the date he was first remanded which is 23rd October 2024 and would run concurrently.
Tik Tokers Imprisoned over Hate Speech and Malicious information
Recently the same court sentenced Makerere University finalist and TikToker Elson Tumwine to a two months imprisonment over offensive communication against President Museveni and Speaker of Parliament Anita Among after his own guilty plea.
Last year, Entebbe Chief Magistrate Stella Maris Amabilis sentenced Mr Emmanuel Nabugodi, then a 21 year old Tik Toker to 2 years imprisonment over hate speech and spreading malicious information about President Yoweri Museveni after his own guilty plea.
The same court sentenced TikToker Edward Awebwa to 6 years in prison on his own guilty plea for abusing President Museveni, First Lady Janet, and General Muhoozi on his TikTok account, Save Media Uganda, between Feb-Mar 2024.
