Police has in custody two of it’s blue eyed boy over the shooting to death of a man in Kasosoko zone, Kira Municipality in Wakios district on Friday.
The Kampala metropolitan police spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed that Police Constable’s Michael Okwalinga and Jackson Okello were arrested in connection with the murder of Simon Waibu who was allegedly in a fight with his ex wife Zaina Nakazibwe.
According to Onyango, Kasokoso Police Post received information that there was a man strangling his wife at Delax bar in Kasokoso zone.
The two police officers, PC Okwalinga Michael and PC Okello Jackson responded to the information.
“It is said that on reaching at the scene one Waibu Simon (deceased) was found strangling a woman known by the names of Nakazibwe Zaina aged about 20yrs Munyankole by tribe who works as a bar maid”
He added, “When they tried to arrest him he first resisted. PC Okwalinga shot a bullet in the air that prompted him to accept to go with the police officers,” police explained.
However, Police noted that as Waibu moved away from the Nakazibwe towards the direction of the officer’s police, he instead ran off prompting PC Okwalinga to shoot at him a number of times.
It is said Okwalinga discharged 21 rounds of ammunitions killing Waibu instantly.
“It is also established that the deceased went to Delax bar at 2100/c and at about midnight he grabbed Nakazibwe Zaina his ex girlfriend and tried to strangle her. PC Okwalinga Michael and PC okello Jackson in custody at Kira Division Police,” police said.
However, the police explanation is contrary to information earlier shared in some social media groups which indicated that PC Okwalinga and his victim Waibu were having a sexual relationship with Zaina Nakazibwe.
It is alleged that PC Okwalinga found Waibu in a compromising position with Nakazibwe and his action was an act of infidelity.
