On Wednesday, tragedy struck at the Ultimate Security Company offices in Mbuya, a kampala Suburb after one of it’s former guards opened fire killing two employees before he was shot dead by Police officers who responded to the scene.
According to a statement released by the police, the security guard identified as Mwaawa Richard who had recently been fired from his job opened fire on his colleagues, killing Assistant Human Resource Officer Noella Zella, and Bwampata Salez, an Armory Officer, before being fatally shot.
Preliminary police findings indicate that Mwaawa Richard entered the company premises armed, targeted Noella and Salez, and opened fire, however his motive remains unclear.
The Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy PRO Luke Owoyesigyire, confirmed the incident.
“Our officers acted swiftly and engaged the suspect, fatally shooting him to neutralize the threat, all three bodies have since been taken to City Mortuary Mulago for post-mortem examinations. The firearm believed to have been used in the incident has been recovered and will undergo forensic analysis as part of ongoing investigations” he said.
ASP Owoyesigyire further urged the public to remain calm and allow the police to conduct a thorough investigation into the unfortunate event.
