The leader of Opposition Mr Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has come out to slam the recent allegations by the UPDF of Germany Ambassador to Uganda H. E. Matthias Schauer allegedly backing rebels within the country to overthrow Government as an old script used to intimidate foreigners by the regime.
In a post on his X account on Saturday, Bobi Wine in response to Friday’s UPDF’s Director Defence Public Information Col Chris Magezi declaration of the envoy being behind rebel militants allegedly under National Unity Platform (NUP) in different areas across the country.
“During a meeting this Wednesday in Gulu, between the European Union Delegation and Gen. Salim Saleh (Dictator Museveni’s brother), the German Ambassador to Uganda H. E. Matthias Schauer and other ambassadors expressed deep concern about the inflammatory social media posts made by Museveni’s brutal son – often followed by actions” Bobi Wine Posted.
Mr Bobi Wine noted that the meeting followed the threats Museveni’s son issued against EU Ambassadors when they visited our Headquarters recently to discuss, among others, the deteriorating human rights situation in Uganda.
“Just hours after the Gulu meeting, the regime has retaliated, now ridiculously accusing Ambassador Schauer of sponsoring unidentified rebel groups to overthrow it! What more? They have stated that most of those so-called rebels are supporters of @NUP_Ug!
This is an all-too-familiar script by the regime: manufacturing ‘threats’ to shield itself from accountability and justify its relentless violent persecution of whoever demands an end to its dictatorship and corruption. It is the same script the regime uses to rationalize the abduction, torture, and disappearance of our comrades by falsely accusing them of being criminals in an attempt to silence and intimidate us”.
