The Leader of Opposition in Parliament Joel Ssenyonyi has accused five MP’s including an NRM legislator of impersonating him in order to obtain an invitation to a two week workshop beginning May 18 in Kenya.
Ssenyonyi issued a “Fraud Alert” on Wednesday citing the four opposition MP’s who include (Joyce Bagala (Mityana Woman MP), Kakembo Mbwatekamwa (Entebbe Municipality), Juliet Kakande (Masaka City Woman MP), Lumu Richard (Mityana County South MP) and NRM’s Najjuma Sarah (Nakaseke District Woman MP,NRM) of using his name fraudulently to get the trip to Kenya.
“One MP even lobbied for his name to be added using a pen after the letter was received by them. They then forwarded it to the Speaker for clearance for them to be facilitated for the 2 weeks trip. The challenge is that they didn’t inform/consult me that they would use my name to obtain this invitation, so they impersonated me” Ssenyonyi said.
Ssenyonyi added, “Even more problematic, the list includes an NRM MP (Najjuma Sarah-Nakaseke Woman MP) on the “Opposition delegation” which apparently is to be led by myself as LOP. All this while, I had no knowledge about this supposed trip or the entire scheme of these members, until I somehow landed on this letter. Why would “Honourable” members choose to behave fraudulently like this!!”.
