The Makindye Chief Magistrates Court, has charged and remanded four men over the alleged aggravated robbery and murder of former SC Villa football captain David Owori on August 5th.
The Chief Magistrate Sarah Basemera on Friday, charged the four who included Ahumuza David, 18, Elvis Munguci alias Sadik Emmanuel Commander, 19, Ssegawa Francis, 20, and Lubega Martin, 18 in three separate cases, however they weren’t allowed to take plea since the offences are capital in nature.
In the first case, prosecution told court that the suspects allegedly robbed Owori of two mobile phones and a bag containing his personal belongings before unlawfully killing him with malice aforethought.
In the second case, prosecution alleges that the group robbed a Congolese national Dr Jackson Ombeni at Nabisaalu Zone, Makindye Division, of an iPhone 11 Pro Max, USD90, a black hand-held bag and other personal documents and belongings, after hitting him with a paver.
In the third case, prosecution alleged that two of the suspects Ahumuza and Munguci carried out an aggravated robbery against Edrisa Mugisha, after they hit him with a wooden stick and ran off with his phone.
The prosecution brought the charges under sections 266 and 267 of the Penal Code Act, while the murder charge was brought under sections 171 and 172 of the same law.
Her worship Basemera remanded the four to Luzira prison until September 10, when the case will be brought up again for mention.
