Following numerous public outcry of the ongoing night security operations and arrests of resident sin different areas in the municipality, the Entebbe Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) Mr Frank Kyazze, has revealed that the operations meant to curb on rising criminality will continue to ensure security in the area.
“It’s true the operations are ongoing, but they are meant to ensure peace and security in the area…. Let us allow the operations to go forward, we look out for the criminals, those who are innocent will be separated from them” he said.
Mr Kyazze, who made the remarks during a brief with media, further urged residents to desist from making false allegations against security personnel over the operations.
“You hear some people claim that they found the child entering or exiting the house, that’s impossible, the security persons who carry out those operations aren’t mad” he said.
He added, “But when youths decide to move at late hours, yet there are a lot of criminal activities taking place, you will only explain about yourself after the arrest, that’s something we have to tell you. Those who feel like they aren’t law breakers shouldn’t move at night”.
Mr Kyazze reiterated caution on night movement, since the operations will stay in place
“The operations will continue to save the residents from the criminality in the area, after we are done with reassuring security, people will resume moving freely the way they want to” he said.
The operations which have also seen a number of people arrested in neighbouring Katabi Town Council, come at the heels of the recently released Police crime report of 2025, which showed that crime had decreased by 10 percent from 2024.
During the release of the report in March, the forced noted a significant drop in crimes from 218,715 cases recorded in 2024 to 196,405 recorded in 2025, indicating a 10.2 per cent decline in crimes across the country.
The drop in crime was attributed structural reforms and operational enhancements within the force, from command, technology, and community policing.
The report showed that assault cases reduced by 10.8% from 29580 in 2024 to 26,366 in 2025 while sex related offence reduced from 14,425 to 12,606 , a 12.6% reduction while domestic violence cases dropped by 12.2% from 14,073 to 12,361 cases.
Economic and corruption related cases dropped by 12.1% from 13,132 to 11,548 while break-ins reduced from 13,511 to 11818 while cases of threatening violence also dropped.
