The Kampala Metropolitan Police has arrested two people in connection with the violent robbery incident that occurred on May 6th at approximately 11:30 a.m. at the Nsambya Traffic Lights along Ggaba Road in Kampala.

According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy PRO, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the force has made significant progress in investigations into a simple robbery case in which UGX 45,184,600 was stolen from officials of Riverside Forex Bureau.

“Today, 12th June 2026, police has arrested Kamoga Yudah alias “Sparta” and Kayabula Arnold, a boda boda rider, in connection with the robbery” he said.

Owoyesigyire said a motorcycle registration number UMA 602KK, believed to be linked to the case, was also recovered.

Owoyesigyire noted that on May 6th, the manager of the forex bureau and his colleague left Bunga Trading Centre on a motorcycle carrying USD 13,000 to exchange it into Uganda shillings.

“After successfully exchanging the money at a forex bureau along Kampala Road, they were intercepted by motorcycle-riding assailants at Nsambya and robbed of the cash” he said.

He further revealed that investigations led to the recovery of a motorcycle bearing registration number UMA 655GK, whose number plate was found to have been forged to conceal the identity of the motorcycle used in the robbery.

“The suspects remain in police custody as investigations continue to establish their roles and apprehend other accomplices” he said.
