Butaleja District Police is investigating a suspected suicide after the body of a 21-year-old, senior three student of Alliance High School Busolwe was found hanging in a tree on Friday.
The deceased, identified as Opendi Donato, commonly known as Junior was a resident of Nagondo B Village, Mulagi Parish, Busaba Sub-county.
According to the Bukedi South regional police spokesperson, Moses Mugwe, the deceased was found hanging in the tree within the village by a resident who was going to the garden, who informed relatives and the LC1 chairperson, who later reported the matter to Police.
Mugwe noted that a case of suspected suicide by hanging was registered and police detectives, were deployed at the scene.
“Officers recovered exhibits including a rope, a suicide note, and the deceased’s Primary Leaving Examination results slip” he said.
Mugwe further revealed that statements from relevant witnesses were also recorded and the body of the deceased was taken to Mbale City Mortuary for postmortem examination as investigations continue.
