The Police in Kireka have arrested a key suspect in the murder of Moses Omaido, the Principal Human Resource Officer at the Local Government Finance Commission that occurred on Thursday last week, in Mbalwa – Kamuli A Kira Municipality in Wakiso District.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy PRO ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, police has in custody the prime suspect, Aliya Nakimera, Omaido’s ex-girlfriend who had fled to Mityana District after the incident.
“She is now in custody and is expected to be charged” he said.
Owoyesigyire further noted that inquiries into the matter are ongoing.
Following Omaido’s murder last week, Agadi Oliver who was Omaido’s girlfriend at the time of his death was arrested to assist with investigations.
According to police reports, on Wednesday Agadi Oliver entered the deceased’s house and found another woman inside who she later identified as Aliya, Omaido’s ex-girlfriend and both women spent the night in the same house.
Agadi told police that it was Aliya who stabbed Omaido after a disagreement.
Agadi noted that on the morning of 26/03/2026, as Omaido Moses was preparing to go to work, Aliya allegedly refused to let him leave, leading to an argument between the two, which escalated into a violent confrontation.
Agadi stated that she was in the bathroom at the time of the incident and did not witness Aliya stabbing Omaido Moses.
However, when she came out of the bathroom, she saw blood coming from the bedroom, but both individuals were no longer in the house.
Omaido’s body was later found along a path leading to his home, lying in a pool of blood.
He had sustained a stab wound to the lower front part of the neck, near the chest.
At the time of his death, Omaido served as Principal Human Resource Officer at the Local Government Finance Commission, a role in which he was widely regarded for his diligence and professionalism.
Over the years, he had built a reputation in public service, having previously worked with Ngora District Local Government and Oyam District as a Human Resource Officer.
He also served in similar capacities at the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) and the Uganda National Meteorological Authority, contributing significantly to institutional human resource management.
