The Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Kawala Rachael has revealed that security agencies have arrested five suspects in connection with the murder of the Officer in Charge (OC) of Ntawo Police Post ASP Bagenda Emmanuel, in Mukono District last year and a series of aggravated robberies within the Kampala Metropolitan area and and recovered three firearms.
According to Kawala, the arrests were made during an intelligence-led operation conducted in Kiti A Zone, Kirinya Parish, Bweyogerere Division, Wakiso District between 24th and 27th January 2026.
“The suspects have been identified as; Amutuhairwe Robinson, a discharged former army personnel, Okello Daniel, guard working with Fortebet ,Kasango Arafat, Luyirika Joseph innocent and Alphonse Daniel” she said.
Kawala noted that during the operation, officers recovered three guns and three magazines, among other exhibits.
Kawala revealed that following interrogation, the suspects confessed to their involvement in the murder of ASP Bagenda Emmanuel, the Officer in Charge of Ntawo which occurred on 23rd November 2025 at about 10:00 p.m. along the Ntawo –Nyenje Road, Ntawo Cell, Ntawo Ward, Mukono Central Division, Mukono District.
Preliminary investigations indicate that ASP Bagenda was shot dead while on patrol, acting on intelligence related to an armed robbery in the area.
“The suspects have further confessed to participating in several aggravated robberies, particularly mobile money robberies, within the Kampala Metropolitan Area” she said.
Kawala noted that efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest additional suspects connected to the particular crimes.
