National Unity Platform (NUP) President Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine has condemned the alleged brutal torture and detention of his security head, Edward Ssebufu, alias Eddie Mutwe by security forces.
While addressing press after visiting Eddie Mutwe at Masaka Prison along with other Party officials and Eddie Mutwe’s family on Wednesday, Kyagulanyi revealed that Eddie is in a deteriorating condition, bearing numerous fresh wounds sustained during alleged torture.
“He is in a very terrible situation, he is rotting away all his wounds are almost fresh, he was sent to prison instead of being taken to a hospital so we request all Ugandans of good will in Uganda and internationally to demand for the release of Eddie Mutwe so that he can get specialized treatment, we have seen him, he was tortured badly” he noted.
Bobi wine further said, “He was tortured for three days and on the third day, Muhoozi Kainerugaba came himself, personally beat him and tortured him, his men tortured Eddie Mutwe in the presence of Muhoozi forcing him to learn Runyankole, he was electrocuted, water boarded and so many other things happened to him which I hope if he comes out alive, he will narrate it all to you personally”.

Bobi wine said Eddie Mutwe was forced to salute Museveni’s picture every day while undergoing torture during his detention in the CDF Muhoozi’s basement for almost a week after he was abducted by Special Forces Command (SFC) soldiers in Mukono district over a week ago.
“He was stripped naked and later on when he was and later on when he was given a piece of cloth, he was only given a Museveni T-Shirt” Bobi said.
Kyagulanyi further apologized to NTV’s based Masaka reporter Gertrude Mutyaba after he wrongfully accused her of playing a role in the abduction and detention of his security team while addressing media on Tuesday at the Kavule based party headquarters.

NUP secretary General David Rubongoya condemned and questioned the method of interrogating suspects that were allegedly applied by the SFC on Eddie Mutwe.
“In addition to other forms of barbaric treatment and the torture marks on his body, comrade Eddie Mutwe told us this morning, he was subjected to water boarding. He told us they tied a piece of cloth in his mouth and let water flow over his face. He felt like he was drowning. He thought he was dying. What are these monsters trying to create in their victims? Anyway, while he was narrating this ordeal amidst tears, my mind went back to this video” Rubongoya posted on his X handle.
NUP lawyer Mr George Musisi said the party is set to apply to the high court to have all charges against Eddie Mutwe dropped.
“We are going to apply to the High Court under the Human Rights Enforcement Act to have all charges against him (Eddie Mutwe) nullified, due to the torture he suffered and the grave violations of his constitutional rights by the state,” NUP lawyer George Musisi.
Waterboarding is a form of torture in which water is poured over a cloth covering the face and breathing passages of an immobilized captive, causing the person to experience the sensation of drowning.
