The Rwenzori West Regional Police Spokesperson Vincent Twesige, has revealed that the force is investigating the alleged death by suicide of 17 year old Douglas Ahurra, a senior three student of St. Leo’s College, Kyegobe in Fort Portal City.
Ahurra, reportedly left home on Wednesday evening, telling his mother that he was going to collect firewood from a nearby valley.
“Ahurra had earlier returned from church at around 6:00 p.m. before untying a rope from a cow and heading towards a eucalyptus plantation in the valley. Minutes later, he was discovered hanging from a tree in a neighbour’s garden” he said.
Twesige noted that the police have since recorded statements from witnesses and opened an inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
