As the country still takes to mind the weekend events where goons dressed in NRM T-Shirts brutalized civilians during President Museveni’s nomination for the party flag bearer position, information reaching our desks indicates that former Director of Criminal Investigations Grace Akullo and her son were not spared the beatings.
According to reports, the goons attacked Akullo and her son robbing them of mobile phones and other items after she had parked her car to withdraw money from a bank near UBC offices in Kampala.
The attack which left the Akullo family traumatized with the son needing admission to Mulago Hospital for a broken nose was one the many attacks that have since gone viral of NRM T shirt wearing goons attacking people on Saturday.
Police spokesperson Kituuma Rusoke said police had so far arrested 21 suspects, including two females, in connection with a string of robberies and assaults along the National Theatre and UBC roundabout area.
“The suspects, disguised in yellow T-shirts, targeted people heading to Kyadondo to witness the nomination of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, as well as motorists, businesspeople, and pedestrians. Using CCTV footage, police tracked and intercepted the suspects in various areas. The arrested individuals are currently being held at CPS Kampala and Wandegeya Police Station” Kituuma noted in a post on police’s X account.
Kituuma said police is reviewing CCTV footage to identify suspects involved in additional incidents.
“One suspect was injured while trying to flee and is receiving treatment. Police urge anyone who was victimized but hasn’t reported to the police to come forward immediately” he said.
