The Uganda Police spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke has revealed the arrest of two Rwandese nationals over four cases of armed robbery in kisoro district.
According to kituuma, the suspects Irankunda Gerald alias Ndereya and Habyarimana Vallence who are residents of Karumena and Kisoro Hill villages respectively were found with an Ak47 gun among other items following their arrests.
“One magazine one live round of ammunition, a pair of police khaki trousers, and a pair of suspected police jungle boots. During interrogation, Irankunda Gerald confessed to participating in four armed robberies across Kisoro District, specifically in Mugombero Town Center, Natate, and Mutorole” he said.
Kituuma noted that further investigations revealed that Irankunda Gerald had previously escaped from Ruti Police Station in Mbarara while under interrogation by the Flying Squad Unit, after being initially arrested in Kisoro.
“He also disclosed that he committed these robberies alongside Habyarimana Vallence, a Rwandese national, and Anthony Imanirakiza, who was earlier apprehended by the community and handed over to Kisoro Police” he said.
