The Police arrested the driver of the Sino truck that lost control and rammed into a commuter taxi at Nkoowe, along the Kampala –Hoima Road in Wakiso District, on Tuesday Killing two people and injuring nine others has been arrested,
According to the Traffic Police spokesperson SP kananura Michael, the driver identified as Wasswa Peter, is currently in police custody and is expected to appear in court any time to face charges arising from the crash.
“We urge motorists to exercise caution, observe speed limits and maintain proper control of their vehicles at all times” he said.
The crash involved 4 vehicles: UBK 495F Sino Truck, UAT 272J T/Hiace, UBB 353D Subaru Forester and UBE 918T Toyota Wish.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the Sino truck, which was carrying stones, traveling from Kakiri towards Kampala, lost control while at Nkoowe and rammed into the 3 vehicles, including a commuter taxi that had stopped to load passengers.
As a result, two people identified as the driver and conductor of the commuter taxi died on the spot.
Nine passengers in the commuter taxi were injured, comprising five adults and four juveniles.
