The Police has blocked Rukurato Road which leads to the Bunyoro-Kitara Kingdom offices, in Hoima City amid fears of attacks by unknown people on Monday.
The Kingdom’s Prime Minister Andrew Kirungi Byakutaga, has in statement revealed that the Kingdom had received a security briefing indicating that unknown individuals were allegedly planning an attack on Kingdom facilities.
“Following their assessment, the relevant security agencies have deployed personnel around the Kingdom’s properties as a precautionary measure to safeguard the Kingdom’s assets, officials, and the general public” he said.
Byakutaga noted that the Kingdom appreciates the security agencies for their vigilance and commitment.
“We wish to assure the general public that all Kingdom offices remain open and accessible to the public and continue to operate normally” he said.
There have been heightened tensions in the Kingdom following the recent attempt by Chief Prince and Okwiri Fred Mugenyi Rucunya to force Byakutaga out of office, a move which has been fought by the premier, who recently asserted that he remains authorised to serve under the authority of the ailing Omukama Solomon Gafabusa Iguru I.
