The former heads of Uganda’s military intelligence, retired Major General Abel Kandiho and retired Brigadier General Charles Bakahumura have been arrested, weeks after their official retirement from the UPDF.
Their arrest on Wednesday comes days after the Chief Of Defence Forces (CDF) Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba, warned to arrest all the generals who were seen joyful dancing after their retirement ceremony presided over by President Yoweri Museveni at State House Entebbe.
On Wednesday, Gen Muhoozi through a post on his x account revealed that he had arrested one of the generals seen dancing after their farewell function.
“One is running for dear life in one of his farms in Gomba. He might try escaping to Rwanda. We shall capture him wherever he goes,” Muhoozi said.
In a follow up post he alluded that some of the other Generals were hiding at Gen Salim Saleh’s home.
“The others must be hiding under Afande Saleh’s bed. But I will look for them” he said.
He added, “We have captured one of the dancing Generals. Another one will be captured soon”.
However, it’s not yet clear which exact charges the duo is facing.
