Kabalagala Police Division, is investigating a case of murder, attempted murder and arson reported at Kalungu Bunga, Ggaba Parish, Makindye Division, Kampala District.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy spokesperson, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, the incident at about 4:00 a.m. on Thursday.
“It is alleged that a housemaid was awakened by an alarm and cries for help from children in the main house. Upon checking, she found the children with serious injuries and calling for help” he said.
Owoyesigyire, revealed that the maid immediately opened the house and discovered several children with severe stab wounds.
“Khadija Daizy, a 14-year-old female juvenile, was found dead in her bedroom, Hawa Dalena, aged 7 years, later succumbed to her injuries while receiving treatment at Nsambya Hospital and three other children, aged 13, 8 and 5 years, survived the attack and were rushed to hospital for medical attention” he said.
Owoyesigyire, noted that the suspect has been identified as Namayo Dorothy, a 43-year-old Kenyan national and mother of the victims, who was also found injured and is currently admitted at Mulago National Referral Hospital under police guard.
He further revealed that during the incidence, a Toyota Hiace vehicle at the premises was also set on fire and was completely burnt.
“The Police Fire Prevention Rescue Services responded and extinguished the fire, a jerry can suspected to have contained petrol was recovered from the scene” he said.
Owoyesigyire, noted that the police responded immediately and visited the scene, where a team of homicide detectives, Scene of Crime Officers and Fire and Rescue personnel examined and documented the scene.
“Exhibits were recovered for forensic examination, the bodies of the deceased juveniles, Khadija Daizy and Hawa Dalena, were conveyed to Mulago City Mortuary for post-mortem examinations” he said.
He noted that a case has been registered at Kabalagala Police and investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident and the motive behind the attack.
“Police have recorded statements from the reporter and relevant witnesses, while the suspect remains under police guard as inquiries continue” he said.
The fatal stabbing comes months after 39‑year‑old Okello Christopher Onyum, hacked four pupils of Gaba Early Childhood Development Centre to death on April 2nd, in the same Ggaba Parish.
