Kira Division Police, is investigating the fatal stabbing of a 35 year old man over an alleged UGX 2,000 dispute during a card game in Kireku Zone, Bweyogerere Division, in the wee hours of Tuesday.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson SP Racheal Kawala, the incident occurred at around 1:00 a.m. at Twine’s Bar, when the deceased, identified as Nuwamanya Hamza allegedly picked the money from Katabani Julius, sparking a quarrel between them.
The bar owner reportedly intervened, paid the disputed amount and asked Nuwamanya to leave the premises.
Police allege that Katabani followed Nuwamanya outside the bar, where another confrontation occurred, during which Nuwamanya reportedly punched Katabani, who allegedly responded by stabbing him with a knife.
Nuwamanya, was rushed to Kireku Health Centre before being referred to Mulago Hospital for further treatment, where he was pronounced dead.
The deceased’s body was taken to Kampala City Mortuary for a post-mortem, while police has so far arrested three suspects to assist with the investigations.
