The Chief of Defence Forces, Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba’s son, Ruhamya Kainerugaba, has graduated from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in England after completing the Officer Cadet Course.
Ruhamya, who serves in the Uganda Peoples’ Defence Forces (UPDF) with the rank of Private, has been undertaking officer training at the prestigious military academy located in Berkshire and Surrey.
In May, Gen Muhoozi through a post on his X account, revealed that Ruhamya had enrolled at the Royal Military academy and asked all Ugandans to pray for him.
“My beloved son, Ruhamya, is doing an excellent job in Sandhurst. All good Ugandans should pray for him every day” he posted.
Muhoozi, who himself trained at Sandhurst and graduated in 2000, further posted a photo of himself during training at the academy, and asked God to bless his son.
Sandhurst is the British Army’s main officer training academy, it’s considered one of the most prestigious military training institutions in the world.
Another notable figure to attend the academy in the region is Rwanda President Paul Kagame’s son, Lt. Ian Kagame, who graduated from Sandhurst as a Second Lieutenant in 2022.
Pvt Ruhamya, whose enrolment in the UPDF became public last year, in a widely shared photo showing the junior Kainerugaba dressed in full UPDF Special Forces Command (SFC) combat uniform, standing beside a fellow soldier, is the third generation of the Museveni family to serve in the Ugandan military.
