The Jinja Road Division Police is currently investigating a case of child torture that occurred on Saturday at K3, Kyambogo, Nakawa Division, Kampala District, where a mother allegedly burnt her four year old daughter with hot water.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police PRO Kawala Racheal, preliminary findings indicate that the child was allegedly scalded with hot water from a kettle by her biological mother, identified as Zabaki Maklean.
“It is alleged that the suspect assaulted the child after accusing her of eating rice in her absence” she said.
Kawala noted that efforts are underway to trace and arrest the suspect, who is currently on the run.
Kawala who condemned all forms of child abuse and torture, urged parents, guardians, and all caregivers to protect children and resolve disciplinary issues without resorting to violence.
“We also call upon members of the public with any information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts to report to the nearest police station or contact the Police immediately to facilitate her arrest and prosecution” she said.
