Police in Nateete are holding a male suspect in connection with the alleged theft of cash from his employers.
According to the Kampala Metropolitan Police PRO Kawala Racheal, the suspect has been identified as Kayaga Rayan, who allegedly posed as Namirembe Rukia while seeking employment as a domestic worker.
“Preliminary investigations indicate that he disguised himself as a female in order to secure employment” she said.
According to preliminary findings, the suspect admitted during interrogation that he had been disguising himself as a female domestic worker with the intention of stealing from employers.

“The suspect was most recently employed at a residence in Mutundwe, Rubaga Division, Kampala District, where he is alleged to have stolen UGX 1.7 million from his employers” he said.
Kawala revealed that Kayaga was arrested at a church in Mutundwe after security personnel conducted a routine security screening before the start of a church service.
“Following his arrest, the employers reportedly discovered that UGX 1.7 million was missing from their residence and immediately reported the matter to the police” she said.
Kawala noted that the suspect remains in police custody as investigations continue.
“He will be arraigned in court upon completion of the inquiries” she said.
Kawala further urged members of the public to exercise due diligence when recruiting domestic workers and other household employees. “Whenever possible, verify the identity, background, and references of prospective employees, and promptly report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station” she said.
