Members of the National Unity Platform (NUP) are in mourning following the death Ms Sarah Nantumbwe Ddamulira, wife to missing NUP supporter John Ddamulira, who disappeared in 2020.
Nantumbwe’s demise was announced by the party spokesperson Joel Ssenyonyi, through his X account on Saturday.
“It is with profound sadness that we learn of the passing of Sarah Ddamulira, wife of John Ddamulira who was abducted in 2020 and has remained missing since. During our recent visit to the hospital, she shared with us her feeling that her life was nearing its end, but she was deeply pained by the possibility of leaving without knowing what happened to her husband. Her children are now left without a father and mother. May God see it fit that justice be served to families like Sarah’s.
Kitalo nyo!” he posted.
The Party Secretary General, David Lewis Rubongoya said it was painful that Nantumbwe has passed on without the knowledge of her husband’s fate, who was abducted from his shop at Kisekka market and is missing to-date
“Sadly, Sarah passed on this morning. Like other family members of those disappeared, Sarah has spent the last five years moving everywhere looking for her husband. It is most painful that she has passed on without finding any answers. Kitalo nnyo” he said.
According to reports from the Human Rights Watch, following his disappearance Alvin Ddamulira, revealed that six armed men abducted him, his 51-year-old father, John Ddamulira, and three others at their spare parts shop at Kisekka market in Kampala on November 21.
The men blindfolded, handcuffed, and beat them, then drove them in a white “Drone” to an unmarked building, where, he said, a man told them, “You people from Kisekka market, stop rioting. The president is not happy about what you are doing.” At 1 a.m. the following day, the abductors dumped four of the men in Bweyogerere, 12 kilometers from Kisekka Market. John Ddamulira was not released and has not been heard from since.
Sarah’s death comes months after missing NUP supporter John Bosco Kibalama’s wife, Mrs. Nabukeera Monica Kibalama passed on in November last year.
The late Sarah Kibalama, was found dead by her family members in the house bathroom.
John Bosco Kibalama was abducted in 2019, his disappearance was reported to Nakanyonyi Police station in Wakiso district and documented under SD/02/04/06/2019, a day after his abduction.
