Uganda faced a nationwide power blackout following a failure of the Owen Falls grid this evening for hours.
According to a source, the grid entire grid collapsed after Owen Falls 1&2 and Lugogo 132kV, initially collapsed causing the earlier partial blackout around the Kampala Metropolitan Area.
Wenereco Uganda Ltd, rural electrification company in West Nile, also informed it’s customers that it was experiencing a general outage due to loss of supply on national grid.
“Our team is working with UETCL team to restore supply. We request for your patience as this is being resolved” the post read.
In a statement released this evening, UEDCL revealed that it’s bulk supplier, UETCL notified it of a nationwide grid outage affecting electricity supply.
“UETCL’s technical teams are working to restore supply as quick as possible. We regret the inconvenience caused” the statement reads.
