The Ugandan music fraternity is in mourning following the death of veteran dancehall artist David Sifaayo, popularly known as Master Parrot, in a road crash on the Kampala Northern Bypass last night.
According to eyewitness account, Master Parrot was knocked dead by a speeding car, while attempting to cross the Northern Bypass at Masanafu area.
Police subsequently transported his body to Mulago National Referral Hospital.
The news of master parrot’s passing, who was known for his timeless hits like Muliro, Ekikompola, and Mama wa Wabana since the Fire Base era alongside Bobi Wine, real names Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, the National Unity Platform (NUP) President has left many in shock.
Following the news of his death, Bobi Wine eulogised Master Parrot as a brother, whose hearty careless laughter and old funny conversations, he will always remember.
“Just got the terrible news that we’ve lost our brother, Master Parrot. Old funny conversations, careless hearty laughters, are the painful memories you leave with us, my friend. Until we meet again,” Bobi Wine wrote.
Master Parrot’s music earned him a loyal following among dancehall and Ragga fans across Uganda.
Fellow musicians, media personalities and fans have taken to social media to eulogise and pay tribute to the deceased artist.
